Subordinate Conjunctions
Subordinate is a word that means something or someone that is lower in rank. These subordinate conjunctions are not lower in rank, but they do connect subordinate (or dependent) clauses to the main (independent) clause. Think about it, these subordinate clauses depend on the independent clause for meaning. Subordinate conjunctions are the words that help the two clauses connect.
