Setting essay goals
Writing takes time.
Writing well takes even longer.
Remember that you are being asked to write an essay for this unit.
Take the time now to think about how you are going to accomplish this.
How long will it take (P.S. At LEAST two hours)
What aspect of your essay writing would you like to improve?
There are other sample goal questions on slide 4.
Write down your 3 goals--trust me, you'll thank me later.

Assessment: Portfolio
The portfolio assignment for this lesson asks you to write two sentences.
That's it.
Two sentences paraphrasing (putting in your own words) the writing prompt.
We write the actual essay later. Like, way later. First we have to learn more about this Muir character, his beard and whatever the devil a Calypso Borealis is.
