Plot
Every story has a plot--a beginning, middle and end.
There are literary vocabulary terms that you should know that describe specific parts of plot:
EXPOSITION
RISING ACTION
CLIMAX
FALLING ACTION
RESOLUTION
Find the explanations for each of these words on slide 4 of the lesson. I highly recommend taking notes on these terms.

PLOT 'ACCESSORIES'
There are several techniques that can be used to change up/add to the traditional plot structure.
Creative writers sometimes use things like parallel plot, episodic plot, flashbacks/flashforward, dream sequence, and in medias res (to begin in the middle) to offer readers a variety of plot. Think of these techniques as plot 'bling.' They jazz things up a bit.
Slides 6-9 offer a decent explanation with examples of each of these plot add-ons.
Again, I highly recommend taking notes.
An important concept to understand is that plot develops a character.
